# Local editing. Clear boundaries.

Know what runs on your computer, what needs a connection and what your assistant can access.

## Editing, rendering and original media.

The timeline, manual edits, silence analysis and video rendering run on your computer. Native projects preserve edit settings and reference or copy the media they use. Keep originals and review a separate export before sharing.

Local processing does not mean every connected feature is offline. It also does not by itself establish a confidentiality or compliance guarantee.

## Speech and connected tools.

- Automatic subtitles: local speech engine/model; installing them requires a download unless already supplied.
- MCP transcription: local only, with an explicit error if its engine/model is unavailable.
- Filler detection: transcript sent to a service; compressed audio can be uploaded for transcription if the local engine is missing.
- Retake detection: local transcription required, then transcript sent to a service; no audio-upload fallback.
- Memegen: external template/render service receives entered captions and serves the resulting images.
- Downloads, activation, license validation and selected app services need their own connections.

## Your assistant has a defined workspace.

MCP is disabled until you enable it in AI and requires Pro. Choose a folder and read-only or editing access. The service enforces that scope and checks the license on requests. Connections use a local socket or named pipe rather than a public HTTP endpoint.

The V1 integration is shared by compatible clients running under the same operating-system user. It is not a separate authorization boundary for each client, and it does not sandbox an assistant that already has broader system access.

Your client controls what it sends to its AI provider. That can include project details, transcripts and preview frames returned by CleanCut.

## Disabling access and recovering work.

Disabling MCP rejects new calls. Already accepted jobs may continue and can be managed in the app. Projects remain manually editable if Pro expires. Closing the window with MCP enabled can leave CleanCut working in the background; the AI screen includes job and shutdown controls.

## Install from a source you can verify.

Use the official download and release information. Check the exact platform and file. A warning from your operating system is a reason to verify the installer, not proof that it should be ignored. Signing and native capture support must be checked for the actual package you install.
