Ask for an edit you can actually keep.
An assistant can import ordered clips, make cuts, adjust titles and audio, insert available sounds, inspect frames and export a video. It can save checkpoints and replace a defined section, such as an intro, while keeping the rest aligned.
The result is a native project, not just a flattened video. Open the managed document in AI → Shared projects and keep working in the timeline.
Bring the assistant you already use.
- Install a CleanCut build with MCP support and activate Pro.
- Open AI, choose a media folder and grant read-only or editing access.
- Enable MCP, choose your client and copy the connection prompt.
- Paste it into the local assistant, reconnect and ask it to check CleanCut's capabilities.
- Make a first edit, review frames and the exported video, and save your project.
The integration is Pro. Your assistant is separate.
All MCP tools require an active Pro license, including read-only access. The bridge is included in the desktop app: no repository, Node or Python installation is needed for it.
CleanCut does not include a language-model subscription or charge by MCP call. Your assistant's account and usage costs remain with its provider. A remote web chat cannot automatically access your local app.
Local processing, with clear boundaries.
CleanCut edits and renders locally. Local MCP transcription uses a configured speech engine and model; it does not silently switch to a cloud provider if those are missing. Your assistant may send transcripts or images it reads to its own provider.
This first version uses local stdio. Integrated web capture, cloud rendering, team collaboration and segment previews are not included. Frame previews can take time to render, and reviewing the final video still matters.
Change your mind. Keep your work.
Edits use revisions and a shared history so a stale request cannot silently overwrite another edit. Checkpoints give the assistant a point to return to. When Pro expires, new MCP calls stop, but saved projects remain available for manual editing.
